Upton, NY – The U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Brookhaven National Laboratory is delighted to host and assist in organizing the Quantum Information Science (QIS) Career Fair, set to take place on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. This event promises an unparalleled opportunity for college students, postdocs, faculty, and early-career professionals to explore career opportunities within the dynamic world of quantum information science. To secure a spot at the event, register today.
The QIS Career Fair is one of the largest virtual fairs focused on QIS job opportunities in the U.S. Attendees can look forward to gaining invaluable insights, building professional networks, and connecting directly with potential employers from national laboratories, academic institutions, and industry. This event will highlight a variety of QIS internships and career paths available to job seekers, spanning scientific and engineering roles to vital business roles that facilitate groundbreaking research objectives.
“Quantum is regularly making headlines. It’s a hot field to be in right now. I remember thinking that these stories wouldn’t mean anything to anyone outside of the 100 or so people that were investigating QIS when I first got involved, but now it’s being talked about in presidential addresses,” said Andrew Houck, Director of Co-design Center for Quantum Advantage (C2QA).
What sets this event apart is its collaborative nature. It is a joint initiative between the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Science funded National Quantum Information Science Research Centers (NQISRCs). This collaboration brings together a multitude of experts in this up-and-coming scientific field, offering participants a comprehensive view of the QIS landscape.
Last year’s event was a resounding success, drawing in nearly 1,000 registrants, with 27 percent undergraduates, 39 percent graduate students, and 10 percent postdocs in attendance. This year, with the assistance of vFairs, the event promises to transcend geographical barriers, enabling organizations and attendees from across the globe to connect, and fostering opportunities that might otherwise remain unexplored.
Brookhaven National Laboratory is honored to have been selected as the lead institution for the Co-design Center for Quantum Advantage (C2QA), one of five Department of Energy Quantum Information Science Research Centers established in support of the National Quantum Initiative. The C2QA team comprises several national labs, research centers, universities, and industry, including IBM, MIT, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Princeton University, Yale University, and Stony Brook University.
